The type of visa you will need for searching for a job in Portugal in 2022 depends on your nationality and the duration of your stay.
EU nationals do not need a visa to stay in Portugal for any purpose, including job searching. Non-EU nationals may need a visa to enter Portugal depending on their nationality. Nationals of certain countries, such as Australia, Canada, and the United States, are exempt from visa requirements and may stay in the country for up to 90 days without a visa.
If you plan to stay in Portugal longer than 90 days, you will need to apply for a residence visa. This visa allows you to stay in the country for up to one year and is a requirement for taking up employment in Portugal.
To apply for a residence visa, you will need to provide evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself, a valid passport, and proof of health insurance. You may also be asked to provide a criminal background check and proof of your qualifications or work experience.
