1. DOCUMENTS ENTITLING A FOREIGNER TO WORK IN BULGARIA ON AN INTERNSHIP

For foreign students (European and non-European), it's really important to obtain a TIN number in order to get some financial contribution. Therefore, it is necessary to fill the form of fiscal residence from the National Revenue Agency.

2. VISA & APPLICATION

Entry requirements for EU citizens

Within a 90-day stay, there are no formal requirements. For a longer period, foreigners must meet requirements arising from EU regulations to live in the Republic of Bulgaria for 5 years or longer, for which a certificate is necessary.

Entry requirements for NON-EU citizens

If you are not an EU citizen, you will need two documents to enter Bulgarian territory:

A valid travel document (passport)
A visa (if required)

3. INSURANCE FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

Important information about insurance:

Bulgaria has compulsory common healthcare insurance.
For EU citizens, it's required to have a European Health Insurance Card, and it is also useful to have national insurance.
Non-EU citizens are required to have national insurance.

4. SHOULD A FOREIGNER IN BULGARIA BE REFERRED FOR PREVENTIVE CARE?

Occupational health and safety regulations do not oblige employers to provide trainees with preventive care. However, a foreigner working in Bulgaria should undergo preventive examinations according to the regulations in force in the country.
